Junior Hack Manchester 2019
Proud to be sponsoring HackManchester Junior for the 4th year in a row!
At Clockwork, we’re passionate about helping the next generation of coders become the technology leaders of the future. Consequently, we couldn’t be happier to be sponsoring the HackManchester Junior event for the 4th year running! The event takes place on Saturday 19th and Sunday 20th October 2019 at the Science & Industry Museum in Manchester.
If you’ve not heard of the HackManchester Junior event before, this is a two day event where teams of 4 take on coding challenges set by various sponsors. The event is aimed at 8-18 year olds and focuses on helping to develop coding skills of the younger generation.
These events are run by a not-for-profit organisation, HAC100. Claire McDonald, MD of the HAC100 team, tells us a little about the HackManchester Junior event:
“HackManchester Junior has always been one of my favourite events of the year. Our talented and friendly mentors, judges and sponsors come from local tech companies showing the engineers of the future a glimpse of where their future career might take them.”
As one of the event sponsors we are offered the opportunity to set one of the challenges. This is always great fun and every year we’re astounded by the imagination, skill and innovation of these young developers. Our 2019 challenge is:
Schools open for a minimum of 190 days a year, for 6 hours a day. That’s 1,140 hours you have to spend in school each year! (House of Commons Library, Briefing Paper)
How can you use SMS to make school a more fun place to be?
As always, the more innovative the idea, the better! The winning team will each receive an Arduino starter kit.
We can’t wait to see what crazy and wonderful ideas you come up with! Happy hacking!
